I checked. 45 years ago I began to learn guitar. my parents took me to a music store and bought a 65 Fender Mustang.
I took a few months lessons. wow. time flies.

on new years day I tuned my telecaster to open G, turned up the amp and made some wonderful noise to celebrate my 45 years. I must have played longer than I thought. the next day my index finger is so sore I can't make a barre chord without pain. on top of that my middle fingertip now has a super tender spot. it was from bending the strings. the sore spot is very tiny, but when I press it I jump and wince.

dang, 45 years doesn't mean I am impervious to guitar finger soreness. I have to lay low for more than a few days now. dang.

No but it does mean your old...J/K join the club.

I never really got index finger pain from real extended playing but I do get the sore fingertips that feel liek the string is slicing right through my finger down to the bone and man it hurts.

You'll be fine in a couple days

Wow, congrats on 45 years! 8)
That's incredible.
I'm pretty sure the 45th is the 'Mind-Numbing Finger Pain' anniversary, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Congratulations dogbite. Choose your weapon and maybe they'll make a commemorative edition and more licensed merchandise! 8) We'll snap it up.

thanks all. the callouses on my fingers look like rhino feet. the wrinkles under my eyes has me looking like an elephant.
my eye sight is starting to go the Mr McGoo route. my ears ring. I am happiest with a guitar slung on my shoulder and air pressure from the amp pushing against my jeans. it has been a cool journey and I plan many more miles.

Man, just add a bike to the mix to keep the mind free and clear to the whole package and it sounds really complete. :)

That's a loooooooong time!!! Mind you, it was 1963 when I decided I wanted to play guitar (The Beatles - need I say more?) and it took me till '74 to get my first guitar. Never took it that seriously, though, till I joined GN......

We'll have to do something special for you in 5 years time......

:D :D :D

yeah Vic. a long time. I was fourteen and it was 1965. the Beatles were very big. the Stones and the Animals were air guitared in my room for a year and then I could plug in in 65. couldn't play even the easiest stuff they did.
now I can and do. maybe that's why my soundclick page is deemed retro.

That's about like seeing someone drive up in a car just like the new one you had, with an antique license plate on it.

Well, that's one I don't have to worry about for a while unless someone is really into Ford Pintos.

Maybe we show up at his house in the country with amps and guitars and blast away. 8)
