A breakthrough for me kind of....I'm starting to be able to sight read sheet music for guitar. It's not as fast as actual sight reading, but I'm recognizing chords and patterns and it's not taking really any thought from me. Even the key signature is starting to come. I'm working with Airs from Figaro just messing around and taking a break from transcribing, and started messing around with my travel guitar, and there it came.

Not fast, but it's all starting to come together. Just kind of a "light bulb" moment I wanted to share!

Does that mean you're going to be changing your avatar? . . . please?

I feel like a Neanderthal next to you . . . I'm still working on changing chords   :?
But . . . I still have fun noodling away on my guitar . . .

I hate to admit it, but I'm working on Puff the Magic Dragon . . . now, how pathetic is that?

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Nothing wrong with any of that. What is playing guitar without the fun? And truth be told there are chords I've got trouble with as well. Like the A chord. I can't barre it, and my fingers are almost too fat to fit, so I get some buzzing sometimes. Don't even get me started on the barre chords, those are still a pain but I can get through them, it's all a learning process.

Way to go, Joe! I started to way back years ago and never stuck with it past page 2 or so.

Thanks! I tried to get through Tarleton's Ressurection by John Dowland, not really a place I should start I know, but I got through the first couple lines at almost speed after playing through it a copule times. Then it started to fall apart. I put part of it on video, but it was an epic failure and fairly boring, so I haven't decided if I want to post it or not yet. I just need to do it every day and try not to get frustrated.

LOL, thanks guys!

I uploaded a piece that I recorded using nothing but sheet music. Here's the link to the forum post.
