Just got the news this afternoon at practice. The Southsidas are one of 8 bands competing in the 2009 River City Blues Challenge. These bands have been selected from applicants based all over Virginia, and the winner will compete in the January 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. If you're in the Richmond area on June 14, come on down and see us!

Here's the details:

06/14/2009 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Capital Ale House
623 E. Main St.
Richmond, Virginia 23219
Cost:$10

Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.

Can't be there in person, it's just a wee bit too far to travel - but I'll be with you in spirit - knock 'em dead!

Just back from the Blues Challenge, and it's been an incredible afternoon. We didn't win, but the band that did win really deserves the prize. They were just smokin'! I'd recommend you give them a listen.

1st place: http://myspace.com/bsideelectricband

2nd Place: http://myspace.com/barrelhouserva

3rd place: http://mikelucciband.com

All 8 bands were excellent (yeah even us!), and I know we've all made new friends and fans today

The rest of the lineup . . .

. . . and us of course

Looked like a cool event.

That first individual pic....George Arnold..... I scrolled down to it and thought it was a Ronald Reagan wax statue or something.
