This past Saturday night my band LIFE IS DRAMA played at Ballydoyles (Aurora). We played Ballydoyles (Downers Grove) last month and our booking agent said if we did well there he'd try and get us into the one in Aurora. The one in Aurora hosts a LOT of the BIG COVER BANDS in our area so I was STOKED to play here!!! :D This is the first time we've played here and & it's decorated just like the one in Downers Grove, an Irish pub & it's right across the street from a casino. Loading in was almost déjà vu from last month, double park in the street and unload your gear as quickly as you can while the people behind you get upset you're blocking the lane.

The main difference between the 2 pubs is the size of the stage. Here the stage is twice as big and the room is more than twice the size of the one in Downers Grove. Again we had an AWESOME sound guy and he mic'd everything up & our gig went off PERFECTLY!!! Well perfectly with the exception of my gear issues. Half way through the first set my midi board went out. I had issues with the midi cord at my last gig and I bought a new cord but for some reason it just blipped out on me. I grabbed the cord and wiggled it and nothing. Oh well, have to do everything manually all night now. Then in the middle of the second set my Xpression Effects unit turned off...WHAT THE HELL!!! :x So I walked back to my rig in between songs and pulled the rig forward and saw the plug in fell out. Plugged it back in & I was back in business!! I think my plug fell out of the Phantom Power for my Midi board too but I didn't realize that until the end of the night otherwise I have to buy another Midi board.

This was Jason's (Bass) B-Day bash and he had a LOT of people there!!! :D I had a group that came out who never seen us before and I would say when we started all the tables were full and we probably had about 80-90ppl which for a summer bar gig is pretty good!!! Again, I thought we played REALLY tight and both the sound guy and staff gave us compliments and asked when we were coming back!!! :D We added some new Top-40 tunes that I think crowd was surprised to hear a band play but they responded well!!

Our next stop on the “We're All Here...‘Cause We're Not All There” tour is @ the Blue Chip Casino “Rocks Lounge” this coming Sat (7/14)!! One of my FAVORITE places to play!! We played the 6pm-10pm slot here back in April and this time we're playing the 10pm-2am slot!!! :D

Thanks for reading and all the great comments!!! KEEP ROCKIN' !!!!

A follow up report to this, we heard from our booking agent that the bar said our numbers were good but they didn't like what we played (material) or how we played them (performance). My guess was the material wasn't to their liking b/c I thought we played the material well.

So I don't think we'll be returning... :(
