Here you go, a trip for everyone to Fort Wayne IN, or will it have to be Fort Knox? It might take a whole gold bar?

Well it looks like those great little guitars from Maryland are on the move - the show is on the road, oh yeah!

March 5 & 6 BTW. So, fly, drive... get here any way you can, and make your one-of-a-kind PRS a reality!

Paul Opens His Private Stock Wood Library to You
A Once-in-a-lifetime Opportunity!

Only at Sweetwater — two days only! You have the unprecedented opportunity to design your personal PRS Private Stock guitar, with help from Paul Smith himself. At this never-before-offered event, you can hand select the tonewoods for your guitar directly from Paul's Private Stock Wood Library. Prices for Private Stock guitars start at approximately $9,000.

Once again, I didn't say anything when we had that post that PRS was beating the recession with record sales figures?

Yes, Laz indeed, What Recession? Doesn't matter, all Educational Announcements and this Invitation are free?

Oops, the news within the link has been updated, or it is outdated, and the recession did indeed find Paul Reed Smith.

First they hired 60, then laid off 30. I hope that the remainder (60 - 30 = 30?) was positive?

I didn't take the time yet to follow the links, but a "Private Stock" guitar from PRS sounds really, really nice. For the starting price of $9,000.....yikes! Um, I think I'd leave the design to someone with visual arts' skill, and the materials to someone who can tell one tone from another with ease. In other words, I'd be chicken to even try.

Thanks for your reply Roy. I believe that your SE is great guitar, there have been a lot of questions here about them lately, eh? Well, I don't think you can go wrong.

I saw just one of these PRS Super Guitars at St. John's Yamaha Music Centre in Winnipeg yesterday, and strangely, it looked so cute and tiny and too pretty to touch.

I have a one-off, but I need to confirm it, as there is no COA, but I believe it was made for Ted McCarty as a show guitar. It has a super odd 3-piece "10 top".

I've written PRS, but need to join the Member's Club, and possibly enjoy some of benefits, but hey, it's far, in Maryland?

The give a neat package for signing up, like a special truss rod cover, a fairly ordinary shirt, some strings and seminars.

Some day, I hope to get my first PRS' history, and likely a PRS signature, though Ted who was of course with Gibson and Seth Lover around 1955 or thereabouts, maybe much longer, ... he passed on in 2001. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_McCarty

My son has a 1989 Flying V '67 1990 re-issue prototype, and it's easy to trace, just call 1-888-4GIBSON, talk to a real person and they do their utmost to assist you. They have a registry, by serial number.

So just for example, this is what Gibson settled on for their production-released 1990's '67 re-issue model, it has open humbuckers, probably like the original? They tell us correctly that we have covered Patent Number pickups from their inventory. That's the kind of service I like, man you can't beat that with a stick.

I have tons of pics and won't show them here, it's a little off topic, but comparing companies.

So here's my 1998 CE-22, I am the only owner from new, and got it in 2000. It's called "Violin Finish" in a tag from PRS, but they apparently didn't make that color; Ted apparently favored Violin Burst instead and it was rumored to be his favorite color. Now I found out that the CE's have been discontinued and they can't tell me why, by email? And McCarty's which were semi-hollow with his favorite pickup (heck, he invented them with Seth?) have been appropriately discontinued. If my CE-24 shows up too, it has the same tremolo as yours I guess, and the color remains in production, Vintage Yellow - sure is different from Gibson again and their 'TV' and vintage yellows.

Here's an already cropped pic I must have used sometime, I got the two to match my favorite amp, you know about those BD's too as an owner, mine is a 1997 - I think, I can't remember so well, and said that when I joined - yeah, something hit me in the head and my memory went South.

My BD is an '07.

Those are both quite impressive guitars. I am fond of the one on the left, the "Violin ......" I kind of like "Burst" better myself, although I don't know why. Regardless, it's a beauty. They both are.

Speaking of my purple SE, I was in my locally owned guitar shop this afternoon for something different, but while waiting I noticed one of only about a dozen guitars he had in the place. It was a purple unit much like mine. An Ibanez, it ended up being. Something vintage from the 80's, complete with gold colored hardware. I wonder if it was the inspiration for the SE I have now? The shade of purple was spot on. Mine has a bit more black in it.

Incidently, the color of mine has been replaced with another. I guess I'm outdated once again. That sort of thing happens when you feed off the bottom rungs of a company's product line.

I think it's soon to be available in a red burst, really sharp pictures on MF, http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/PRS-SE-Paul-Allender-Electric-Guitar?sku=423368 and a green burst. That's two now. My Epiphone Honey Burst Standard LP Plus Top had a tint change for '09, the year following mine. I really like it a lot better than what I have, but really don't care enough to bother trying to trade ot anything. Besides, I have aftermarket pickups in it and already set it up.
