On July 6th 1957 (it was a Saturday) at around 7.00 pm, in the Church Hall of St Peter's Church in the Liverpool district of Woolton, John Winston Lennon (age 16) met James Paul McCartney (age 15) for the first time, after Lennon's group - the Quarrymen - had played two sets at the Woolton Parish Church Fete.

A couple of weeks later, the Prime Minister, Harold MacMillan, coined the phrase for which he became famous - "You've never had it so good!"

Now there was a man with precognitive abilities if ever there was one!

:D :D :D :D :D

(Edit - it's past midnight here, so it is July 6th already....)

Gee I could come up with alot of only ifs , about those 2 meeting

Only if
You let your heart
Follow your dreams
And from your little dreams
Become greater things

Only if

Or even Chances are

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Oh and on BBC radio about an hour later, a chap called George Martin was presenting a show called Holiday Playhouse - part of a summer season of radio variety. Lonnie Donegan was #1 in the singles chart with "Gambling Man" - Elvis was at #2 with "All Shook Up." It would have cost you 30p - about 16 cents - to buy either of those singles! And a pint of beer would have set you back 7p.....
