You should also definitely try and get a custom theme; too many sites stick with the default SubSilver theme and to be honest it sucks.
There is also "icicle" available, but more would, I agree be nice.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

I've been away a while (a relocation, but not as far as David's :wink:), but I'd like to say kudos to switching to the phpBB system. I frequent other boards that use it, and the customizability and code add-ons you can do is amazing. I like it, and am glad this site has gone to it.
