Hi
Well I took the plunge and answered a Craiglist Ad placed by
a fellow singer/songwriter/guitarist a couple of week ago.
Last night we got together for our first session with some interesting
results.
We met a my house at 6:00PM and since it was a beautiful evening
we decided to take our acoustics out into the back yard. This turned
out to be a good decision as the living room I was planning on using
is on the west side of the house and would have gotten too warm as
the sun set.
We struck it off well and seemed to find common musical ground
Aaron being 27 and me being 52 there was some concern we would
be too far apart musically. That turned out not to be the case.
There was a lot good give and take going on and we were both willing
and open to each others ideas.
After exchanging greetings and such pleasantries we got down too work.
Aaron had a chord progression he had been working on and asked my advice.
We came up with adding a bridge. Then we turned to lyrics
and talked about how to approach it. He mention that he thought it
had a traveling feel to it and we were off and running.
About an hour after first meeting we had a song written and arranged.

It may be a bit generic but for a first meeting and 1 hour I think
we pulled off more than we were planning on.
Definitely planning on getting together again.

Very cool John. I've never collaborated before. Something to consider....
Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.
I've never written a song with anyone else either - I think the closest I've come is adopting a few suggestions from the good people in the SSG and the other songwriters forum.
Keep us up to date John - it'd be an interesting look at the songwriting process, I reckon. For instance, who suggested which chord changes, did you work on different parts at the same time, or did you both keep going over the same parts together?
Look forward to reading more.

That's great John. :D Maybe you two can find a few more people to join in the next time and start a songwritting clinic or jam party. 8)

Thats really awsome John.
