  • Rule #1: NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case

  • Rule #2: NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case

  • Rule #3: NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case

  • If costly, have it appraised, and have the person who wouldn't let you bring it on board, sign an agnlowldgement

  • NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case

  • If you have the time, ship it via either UPS or FedEx to the nearest facility to the airport in which you will be arriving at marked "Hold for pickup". Both UPS and FedEx pack their planes more carefully than the airlines do

  • NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case
  • Did I mention NEVER-EVER travel on an airline unless your instruments are in an ATA approved flight case???

BTW, I never-ever transport from home to the gig in my minivan unless they are in an ATA approved flight case. Anything less is just asking for it.

I think notes is right on the nose there. not that that excuses the airline at all.. I mean, its still there job to take care of all bags.. and its not like you didnt know it was a guitar..... but still.. I wouldnt eaven think of shipping my 500 buck LP in its case... its not ment for that. and thats only 500 bucks...

I see people carrying their precious instruments to the gig in those soft-sided gig bags, and think to myself, there's an accident waiting to happen.

Even when I'm not flying, and even if I'm bring the el-cheapo LTD EC50 to the gig, it's in a flight case. And there have been a few times when that saved the gig.
