Most of us forget that a lot of people still use dial up. :)

If it's just a bt for a jam then quality isn't so important so just a suggestion (if nobody has already thought of it), it's easy to create a lower quality file that can turn a 1 hour download into a 10 minute one just by going mono and 96bit or even less. I'm happy to help if that is useful to anyone.

Good to see this part of the forum has picked up again! 8)

Dan,

I went to your Soundclick page to download the Acoustic Blues in A backing track and noticed the other backing track (Dan's Jam) posted there.

Has that been used already for an online collaboration here at GN?

With all this clamoring about for more open jam slots and folks looking for good backing tracks, well, it's right there just waiting.....

Margaret,

No, as far as I know that has never been used for an online jam. It's just something I came up with when fooling around one day, and just never got around to doing anything with it yet. Might have to make it alittle longer yet, I can't remember. It's been awhile since I listened to it. Glad you think it's good enough to use though. :D

Vink,

Glad to hear you're going to host a jam. Man, this place is gonna be rockin'! 8) I think Kalle was going to give it a go too.
I got all of the BT's that were just added on 10/8/06 this morning before I went to work, ("Jam with a real live blues band" ones), I think 5 or 6 in all, then went right back when I got home to download some more, and the site is already down again. The ones I did get sound really good. If anyone is interested, PM me.

Dial up? That's where you have to crank the telephone and then ask an operator for the webpage you want isn't it?

Dan,

It's just shy of 4 minutes long. And oh yeah, it's plenty good enough to use! I think it is begging for some attention from some people who know how to rock... 8)

Hey gang, I'll get mine in tonight or in the morning  BTW if Davids PC is an early 90's model, it probably doesn't have enough speed or memory to handle MP3's or even record any thing but midi files. He can do the thing on his work station and have a student send it.BTW David, with the new PC's you could probably down load a typical mp3 file in 5-10 minuets over a low speed connection. I'm looking forward to this one--ken

I'm hoping this will be fun. I should have mine ready sometime this weekend, should all go well. And I'll either have one of my students (the guy whose hands grace the cover of the bass book) send it in or go through John.

I'm not the last one to turn it in yet, am I?

Fingers crossed...

Peace

Umm that would be a definitive NO!

I'll probably be last since I'm having computer issues/ISP issues/ and overall a bad attitude. Nothing a few beers won't cure. :D Ooops wrong thread.

I already sumitted for Kalle's Santana Jam too.

Then again I haven't done a thing on this week's SSG assignment yet.

I'm sure I'll be the last one in on this.....but I'm practicing!

Have what I want to do in mind, but need to put in more time to get it up to speed and clean.

You guys may be sorry in the end, that you've let a rank beginner like me join the fray.

But I haven't thrown in the towel yet, and I'll do my best. :D
