I'm not terribly good, and would need some direction on what to play, but I can hold down a rhythm part fairly well. I'm mostly interested in doing something rock based, but anything's good.

I'm also new to this, so I don't know what software we'd be using either, so if someone wouldn't mind enlightening me...

Don't worry... Just pick any jam, and ask to have a part.. Nobody will make fun of you if you stink (At least they don't with me! :) ) And there are a variety of jams you can take part in, or better yet start a new one! Most folks around here use Audicity, its free, and it gets the job done... 8)

Happy Playing! :)

Rats, I thought it was more along the lines of creating a conference call with Skype and playing in real-time. Has anyone tried that before?

Number6,

I don't think there is any technology that's going to give you the ability to jam online in real time now.

Dialing into some type of conference call number won't work since there would be a delay.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!

I have heard of it being done with limited success. I have not tried myself. I've also heard of midi jams taking place over the internet...also something I have never tried.

Hmmm...sounds like it would be kind of hard to use. What if someone changes key? I think the jam would necissarily have to be rather basic.
