Wow this sounds like a lot of fun! I can already hear a melody while listening to the backing track! Just need to to find the notes on the fretboard hehe.

I'd like spot #1 in Team 4 please!

Wow! I'm gone for a few hours and the posts multiply.

Dagwood and Neztok, sorry I missed your posts before. You are on Team 5, segments 1 and 2, respectively, ok?

I think we're going to be busy until the 4th of July!

Any of the first timers who haven't signed up yet but own a '51 should get together like they did on the Funk Jam.

If you left-click on the mp3 choice, you should get a window that says "Open" or "Save". Choose Save and designate where on your computer you want it saved. If you have trouble with it, PM me your email addy and I'll email you the mp3.

Welcome to GN! How about if you take segment 4 of Team 5, as I already assigned segment 3 to someone else via a parallel thread on Beginner's Q & A. Look there (thread titled Cattle Call for Beginners) for additional info, including a flash tool you can use for pentatonic scales. Here's a link to that thread:

Holy smokes, peeps! We have FIVE teams filled here! Woohoo! :D

Hi everyone,

Margaret, thank you so much for this great notion. I think I qualify as beginner and GN newbie--is there room for me? I see loads of folks have already signed up.

I use GarageBand for some recording, so perhaps I could figure out Audacity. I like to think I could follow along a groove in C. If it's workable, please give me any slot that's free, and I'll try to get something out, b/c we owe it to the people.

Thanks, and thanks everyone for the awesome vibe on these pages. Keep rockin.

Welcome, Texifornian! You can have any slot on Team 6, take your pick.

Audacity is not required--you will submit your part as an mp3, so if GarageBand can do that, you don't have to learn a new program. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that??)

Let me know which segment you want, and again, welcome to GN and the Incubator, as well.

You got it Margaret. I'll be using Logic Express and it or GB can do all that's required for giving you the materials the way you need them.

Hi Margaret and everybody else
The final mixer of a Collaboration Jam normally needs two .mp3 files from each jam member.
One low quality file with the lead/solo sequence and the backing track and one normal .mp3 quality file ( 126kbit/s , 44100 hz ) file with the lead/solo track including the the start/sync clics of the backing track.
These two tracks helps the final mixer to syncronize each of the members lead/solo tracks to the backing track

Margaret, if you need any help with the final mixing all these teams, I can jump in and take one team.

Tanglewood TW28STE (Shadow P7 EQ) acoustic
Yamaha RGX 320FZ electric guitar/Egnater Tweaker 15 amp.
Yamaha RBX 270 bass/Laney DB 150 amp.

Thank you, Kalle. May take you up on mixing a team or two. Boogie has also offered to help do a mix or two. (And maybe someone else, too, gotta check back through the threads--I need a secretary  ).

To avoid confusion, we'll still have all mp3's submitted to me, and when a team has all four parts in, I'll contact you (Kalle, Boogie, etc) and forward the mp3's at that time.

I'd like to do the first team in, and got my first taste of mixing a segment last night, with some tutoring. (Thanks, Bish!) :D

To reiterate, there is no timeline or urgency to this project. The focus is helping beginning jammers learn to improvise, record, and participate in a jam in a no-stress environment. So, participants, don't let this early talk of submitting parts and mixing make you feel rushed. 2007 has barely begun.

Take your time, have fun with it, and let us know when/if you need help in any way. :)

That's music to my tired ears. I'll be along, and I'll be in touch on this-but don't pass out holding your breath, anyone! :) A lot of little pieces of my life have to be rearranged right now, and making music is one of them. This opportunity is a great incentive to keep moving, though. Thanks.

Please add me to an available team, although it might take me a few weeks to get my portion submitted. This is an excellent idea Margaret!
