It's probably because on the LP the tone controls actually make a difference in the sound when you turn them . What about that stupid pick-up selecter switch that's right in the way of a decent windmill ? Or the volume controls that get turned off while strumming . Not a very good layout .
If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .
2 volumes and 2 tone knobs to much to handle ? for that sound ? :?
yep. one two many. LOL. really, I am a single coil freak. I love that sound.
Les Pauls and Strats. pepper and salt. essential stuff.
i hear ya dogbite, i really like my strat but i love my lp, i'm fortunate to have both :D
even god loves rock-n-roll
The humbucker is a magical EMC/anti-EMI charm, but the P90 is the real tonal juju. So the LP or SG to love is the one with the P90s.
Put a spell on you, baby.

That's beautiful, CFB.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.
Thanks, Chuck. But it plays much better than it looks. So easy to play, don't have to fight with it at all. 15 minutes after playing it for the first time, I wanted to sell my 50s neck Standard LP and buy this one too:
My only issue, is which color? They all look great!

how much do these LPs cost? To get a decent one?
It all depends on which model you want and whether you want new or used. New LPs start just under $2,000 and go up to more money than you make in a year! There are some lower end models, which I don't really like that much, but they aren't cheap either - about $1,000 and up (possibly a little cheaper). Used guitars are a little more risky, but you can get a good deal. I just got a 1991 LP Standard for $1,500 on ebay. New Stanards run about $2,200-$2,300.

That's a beauty too.
Don't start me on the issue of colour. I still haven't decided to take back my Wine Red LP when it gets back from repair or keep the Translucent Amber the store gave me as a loaner. It's an agonising choice. If I could justify both I would without hesitation.
Good luck with your decision. Hope you don't lose as much sleep as I am.

Think of it this way, Chuck. You love both colors, so either choice will be the right one! 8)

Yeah but I'll miss the other.

Then, buy both! Hey, that's what money is for anyway!
Is it time to revive this thread????
I can't belive that this was from almost a year ago!
