Clapton, Beck, Hendrix, Knopfler, Eric Johnson, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, the "Three Kings", Duane Allman, Vaughan, Cale, Vai, Petrucci... and Segovia, Romero, De LucÃa... in no particular order...
And also Dogbite, Joe Hempel, Dale (Tonedr), Alan Green, Steinar...
I like each guitarist that can communicate a feeling while playing. The best one for me? Probably it depends on the moment.
Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Erm, I mean Mark Knopfler.
David Gilmour.
What day is it again? It REALLY depends on the mood I'm in.
Erm, Slash? Zack Wilde?
BB King?
Who do I listen to most right now? Gary Moore. (Learning to bend HARD.) BUt that's the only reason he really makes the play list.
Yngwie Malmsteen?
Santana?
Erm...this could go on forever. I'd list all of these guys...some days.
Ande.
Some of my favourites....
Jimi Hendrix,
David Gilmour,
Stevie Ray Vaughan,
Albert King,
Joe Satriani,
Robin Trower
All fantastic in their own way.....
together we stand, divided we fall..........
I couldn't resist bumping this thread. Andres Segovia makes perfect sense to me. You don't have to like classical guitar to realize how much of a master he was. I suspect that "best" in most minds is strongly tied in to the music we like (as has been stated before). If limited in that way, Jimi Hendrix would certainly get my vote, but I would have a hard time justifying such a vote even with myself when compared to Segovia.
Prince is the best guitarist. No question.
Warren Haynes & Joe Bonamassa !
But , there are so much .... 8)
