So every year the first saturday night in Feb. my friend has this huge party. We cook all day and then have a nice bonfire at night and usually 100+ people come out w/ no less then a dozen guitar players. Well last year I had just started to play guitar but this year I am much better prepared. I know a handful of songs that get played every year and ive came up w/ half a dozen more that i think will fit the atmosphere (alot of drunk rednecks:), check out my list and let me know what u think or add any songs comparable:)

Mary Jane's Last Dance~Tom Petty
Curtis Loew~Skynyrd
Simple Man~Skynyrd
Simple Man~Charlie Daniels
Long Haired Country Boy~Charlie Daniels
Folsom Prison Blues~Johnny Cash
Dixieland Delight~Alabama
Waymore's Blues~Waylon Jennings
Dinosaur~Hank Williams Jr
Od'd in Denver~Hank Williams Jr
and Queen of my doublewide trailor~Sammy Kershaw

I think those are fun bonfire party songs, any other suggestions are welcome!

Some were good and some were bad
guitar fightin' the tv
i was thinkin bout you and me

How about "Get a Haircut", "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Bad to the Bone" or "Move It on Over". Thinking of my George Thorogood and the Destroyers CD here.

Not really redneck, but "I Want You to Want Me" (Cheap Trick) is a widely-known crowd pleaser. Actually, Cheap Trick played at a couple of my high school dances before they made it big. I remember being at one Cheap Trick concert when only about six people showed up at the local college.

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis

swing life away by rise against...not a classic per se but I think it'd be good in a beach environment.

Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.

Every campfire I've ever played at enjoyed "Dead skunk in the middle of the road"

I wanted to learn to play guitar really badly and I think that I have succeeded.

Todays forecast :Abundant sunshine. High 72F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.

I actually had to wear a sweatshirt while riding my bicycle in to work this morning. I ride about 5 miles along the Indian River and watch the sun come up while dolphins and manatee wave hello, yeah I consider that lucky. But in a few months it will be 130 degrees w/ 120 percent humidity and skeeters the size of teridactals (sp?)

I'm wearing the new sweatshirt that I got for jumping into Lake Michigan on New Years Day.

I wanted to learn to play guitar really badly and I think that I have succeeded.

Yikes! You're a polar bear! I think you need to fly down for gutfiddle's bonfire beach party as a reward, if you actually went through with the ice swim. Your brain is probably still frozen...

Already not being the brightest star in the sky, the ice water didn't seem to have a noticable effect on my intellect.

I wanted to learn to play guitar really badly and I think that I have succeeded.
