Never gonna pawn a guitar. Pawned a lotta stuff, but never a guitar.

I'd agree with notes, but I haven't got a TV, a DVD player...etc. Call me a minimalist.

Somebody pawned my best guitar once, and never got it back. Sad for them, but it worked out pretty well for me.

Inspirational stuff here- Hang on to 'em tight vic.

Best,
Ande

Vic, good to hear you got the toys back. Hmm never personally pawned anything but I guess if I had to I would. I don't have any special love for any of my guitars, they are inanimate objects made of wood and steel, easily replaced.

Now that doesn't mean I would like to pawn or lose them it just wouldn't be a big deal to me if I did. The only that would be painful is losing the money I had paid for them, but it would be the same for a camera, TV etc.

Inanimate clearly- I'm not confusing my guitar with my girlfriend. Not a living thing. Not a family member. Not even a pet.

But...easily replaced? No two are the same- materials, woods, set up, the one you know...

I don't play anything else like I can play mine. And don't know where I could get another one.

Best,
Ande

I agree with you there, Ande - there's no other guitar feels like the one you play every day. Since getting the Tele back I've re-discovered why I love playing guitar so much - same with the SPT acoustic. Never played another guitar that feels remotely like that one!

:D :D :D

Sure every guitar doesn't sound the same and you get used to playing a particular guitar..but if you lost or pawned it then you'd just have to get used to another one right?

I'm sure out of the millions of guitars out there you would be able to find another guitar that feels/sounds just as good.

I'm afraid to admit it, but . . . if I lost my guitar. . . . I'd probably need guitar counseling.

No doubt- "as good" is probably no challenge. Cuz some days, I just plain suck.

But not the same.

I do get attached to the one I have- as far as I know, it's one of a kind.

It's like saying it doesn't matter if your house burns down, cause you could get another one.

IF it does burn down, you'll get another one. Be stressful though.

Likewise with my guitar- If lost or stolen, I would replace. But it would be pretts stressful.

Ande

Was tempted to pawn off a few guitars last year when gas was high and I was still looking for a job. What a nightmare that was.

Hi All,

I jumped over the virtual wall out of the Sunday Songwriter's Group to share on this song assignment since this post was an "inspiration" for the song's origin :D

James

Y7Wk38 Happy Together

http://www.soundclick.com/JamesSundaySongWritersGroup

Music was his life; flowed through his veins
Kept the Vicmeister from going insane
His love was a joy ride strapped to a rocket
His telecaster screamed 'cause he knew; knew how to ROCK IT!

Inauspicious events fell like rain
Unthinkable thoughts entered his brain
His alabaster skin broke into a sweat
His telecaster cried Vic, don't do what you'll later regret

Chorus
Come on celebrate: nothing feels better
Having a good time; happy together
There's no place I'd rather be
There's nothing better than you and me

He tossed and turned hardly slept
while his telecaster gently wept
He needed the money; he had bills to pay
one step in the pawn shop was like having one foot in the grave

He used the Internet for solace and advice
Doing what he did; didn't feel right
Guitarists round the world tried to comfort him
but today joy of joys they're together, together again

chorus
Come on celebrate: nothing feels better
Having a good time; happy together
There's no place I'd rather be
There's nothing better than you and me

Come on celebrate: nothing feels better
We go together like lace and leather
soul mates lovers of ectacsy
There's nothing better than you and me

Vowing no matter the financial disaster
He'd never again hock his telecaster

chorus
