Hello to all of GN

For all those who enjoy Pink Floyd, from the Syd Barrett Era, to the success of Dark side of the moon, to the leaving of Roger Waters just after the wall production. What is your most memorable, favourite album by the band and why.

Mine would be Meddle for obvious reasons, I was blown away by the perfected 23 minute preformance of "Echoes" and another great being the distorted one liner song "One of these days". I see the whole album as a complete masterpiece and something that should've been recognised more than it originally was.

Jordan

"If you give a man a Les Paul guitar, he doesn't become Eric Clapton. If you give a man an amp and a synthesizer, he doesn't become whoever. He doesn't become us." - Roger Waters, Pink Floyd

Probably DSOTM, but Meddle's right up there. But Dark Side strikes me as almost a perfect concept album with its lyrical exploration of the theme of madness and the incredible soundscape it produces. I can still remember being astonished at how well the stereo effects worked. It's an incredible achievement, I think.

Well we all shine on--like the moon and the stars and the sun.

Well Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are great, but I kind of like Animals.

Ditto here.... I love most of Floyd, but MLofR I think is awesome.

As an entire collection, it's a toss up between DSOTM and WYWH. But there are so many cool tunes in the earlier stuff, See Emily Play, One of these Days ..., Set the Control for the Heart of the Sun, Careful with that Axe, Eugene ....

-=tension & release=-

DSOTM here as well. Seems most of us are picking this one. Stands to reason. I believe this album had a record run for longest on the charts?

All Pink Floyd material is awesome.

By the way, which one is Pink?

Animals. The first time I listened, I was blown away by the biting lyrical commentary (particularly "Dogs") and the how the music pushed through me. I still feel that way every time I listen to it. I just love the imagery painted, like in the phrasing "And after a while, you can work on points for style. Like the club tie, and the firm handshake, A certain look in the eye and an easy smile." And Waters' growls on Pigs (3 different ones) always gives me the chills.

I always thought Meddle was under-rated.
