Thanks, Dan! How's that, Rahul?

Holiday for us US'rs. Some of us are luckier and have tomorrow off. So a 4 day holiday.

Dan, we should have made some plans and gotten together this weekend. I'll be here all weekend if you're in the neighborhood. Bring your son. I got enough gear and headphones for everyone. :D

Rahul, you and Arjen, join the party if you are passing through. Rahul, no lefty guitars here but I can rearrange a drum set if you want to bang away.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Thanks for the invite Bish! 8) I'd have to make about a four hour wrong turn though to end up in your neighborhood this weekend!  We will have to get together one day though. Maybe we should start planning a "Mid-West GN Jam"? 8) :D

Dan

Thanksgiving,as the story goes historically, is a communal meal enjoying the bounty of the harvest.
the first pligrims to settle in the US didnt fare well as they little understood the demands of the new land.
they had applied the ideas they brought over and neglected or didnt know of the foods that the natives knew how to glean from the land.
the pilgrims were in bad shape. the first peoples here (the natives) brought them indiginnous foods and saved them from starvation. they taught them how to use the land and reap it's bounties.
the pilgrims, being thankful, had a big meal with the new neighbors hereafter.
thanksgiving is all about sharing ones bounty with those less fortunate. I have done some time volunteering at food shelters for the homeless.
thanksgiving is about being with family and invited friends passing plates of food, enjoying each others company, and recognizing the good things of communal fellowship ,being aware of those that cannot share in it, and thanking ones good fortune.
our family typically meets from the far reaches of the country, catching up with news, reminecing our childhood escapades with tons of laughter.
nodding off after dinner is the norm. and a board game is usally involved.
we have tried to kept commercialism away, but it seems to be a challenge in this day and age.

Had to stick this in here;

When I was growing up all of the local radio stations would play Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant every thanksgiving. I thought I would throw a link in for everyone who has never heard it. The second link is from an NPR story about the song.

Just another little piece of America.

Happy Thanksgiving
