Okay, this may be a little off-topic, but I didn't know where else to post it. I need help finding 2 things:
A) The names of bands or artists who have done a cover of "hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. It doesn't matter if they recorded it in a studio or played it live on a whim. I just need to know who has done it.
B) Also, I would like to know the names of some obscure but still accessible metal/punk bands.

Thanks to anyone who replies with the much-needed info.

The metal/punk bands can't help you with but maybe with the song Hurt. I have a few sites that I go to when I need to know info about anything and Wikipedia is one of them. This mentions some of the covers, maybe all dunno. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_%28song%29

It's not easy being green.... good thing I'm purple.

If this is the song by Trent Reznor then the cover I immediately think of is non other than Johnny Cash. Cool Tune!

His cover is the best I've heard. Better than the original. I love that song...

Psa. 42:8
By day the LORD commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

From Wikipedia:
"Hurt" has been covered by other artists in addition to Cash, including The Razor Skyline and Sevendust. On his Outside Tour, David Bowie performed the song with Nine Inch Nails live as well as other hits in a dual act that began each concert. Tori Amos frequently used three or four lines of the song as an introduction to songs during her Dew Drop Inn tour in 1996. The band Sevendust performed a cover of "Hurt" for the Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live album, dedicated to Johnny Cash.

The song was also covered by Frank Peterson's musical experiment known as "Gregorian" (Gregorian Official Site). Peterson's arrangement put the lyrics into a medieval Gregorian Chant.

and from the wiki article Trent's reaction to the Cash version.
I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow. I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore. … It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning—different, but every bit as pure.

I love NIN and I love Johnny Cash. Going to get one of those Black Dean Evo's cause Trent plays one. And they aren't expensive either so woo hoo for me. I've seen NIN in concert this last summer and the quality of the production and playing was just outstanding. He started playing and I got emotional like a schoolgirl, all teary eyed. Don't know why. Just one of those things. And the guitar version of Hurt is the first thing I ever tried to play on the guitar and it's in my warmups hopefully every day. And Downward Spiral was the soundtrack on my walkman for all my long runs for years. 8) And the latest NIN album rules and is on my ipod, well all the NIN albums are on my ipod. It's all good.

Ah sorry, the wikipedia Hurt entry url is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_(song)

Humm, I saw David Hodge not able to make a link either, let's see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_(song)
But the image link seems to work. Humm.
It has the links to the groups mentioned in the paragraph of who covered the song.
