Generally singles -- I like the additional nuance, and can live with a little "vintage" hum.

I'll go a little further than Greg, and say single coils as long as they're on a Telecaster.

I couldn't have been more converted if I'd been hit over the head with a Telecaster on the road to Damascus!

I like them both. Love my Strat HSS to get the single AND double sound.

I'm a humbucker guy. Single Coils have their place, but I prefer a nice big, fat humbucker.

when going for big, fat and harmonically rich, there is a superior single coil option: P90. tonally, a P90 is like a 'bucker with mid and upper range definition.

'Buckers all the way. Don't like P90's for the most part either.

I'm with Gnease on being mainly a P-90 guy. They're single coils, but that term generally is understood to mean Fender type single coils.

Actually I have a couple of lap steels with Strat type single coils and like them fine. Just got another one that's got a Select twin blade mini-humbucker Strat pickup in it. I was shocked at first because it didn't sound like I expected it to, but I've grown quite fond of its tone. And it sure is quiet.

But I don't regularly play any "Spanish" guitar with Fender single coils in it, or humbuckers either for that matter. But I have played humbuckers a good bit and like them OK. I'm more a fan of Gibson-style electric guitars than Fenders.

I voted HB, but I really do like 'em both.

Another single coil guy here. The humbuckers have a nice and characteristic sound but I prefer the single coils.
