Driving in to work today I got assaulted with a heavy dose of...
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo
Man! It's been years! Truly a forgotten gem!
Just flat out, fun, freaking ROCK AND ROLL!!!!
Let's hear about that song you just heard but had forgotten!
---------
Rock and roll hoochie koo
Lordy mama light my fuse
Rock and roll hoochie koo
Truck on out and spread the news
Done got tired of paying dues
Said goodbye to all my blues
Lordy mama, light my fuse!
Great song! Rick Derringer's one of the top underrated guitarists around.
The first song I ever fell in love with (well, the 2nd, because Gloria was 1st), was Up and Down by the McCoys - Rick's first bigtime band.
But I was in the kitchen making dinner the other night and a United Airlines commercial was on in the living room. Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin) was playing in the background; the orchestrated version with the clarinet opening. I hadn't thought of that song in years, even with all the 1930s-40s thoughts that have been floating through my mind recently. So though it's not rock, it's one of those 'Hey, I remember that!" sort of things.
Best
Yea I remeber that one...matter of fact I can remember sitting in my friends car on a SAturday afternoon at the local reservoir drinking beer and blasting that song.
A couple that I've heard recently that brought back some memories:
30 Days in the Hole - Humble Pie
Stone Cold Crazy - Queen
"It's all about stickin it to the man!"
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
Second song from the soundtrack of my favourite film - Dazed & Confused - mentioned here in as many days :)
Yeah! I don't bother learning many tunes, but did Hootchie Coo a couple years ago and used it for the "Guess the Riff" forum section. Not too hard, and sounds good on acoustic or electric.
-=tension & release=-
It's also on the Les Paul and Friends album from a couple of years ago!
For me it was U2's Drowning Man. Hadn't heard it in years. That song just plain rocks...
Psa. 42:8
By day the LORD commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
Michael Bolton...that says it all
Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
"Hind sight is 20/20"
