I was running through a few scales earlier, and decided to try playing intervals working up through the scale. I started with thirds. With no charts or visual aids. And a metronome. Possibly set slightly too fast (for this, 1bpm would possibly be too fast). I had to work out what I was supposed to be playing in realtime. The hands were okay with that, but not the brain. Oh no. The brain had to concentrate a lot. Afterwards, it felt like it had been stretched between two goal posts and violated by a gang of drunks wielding big pointy sticks. Splintery ones. What made me try repeating the exercise using 4ths and then 6ths? What? 4ths aren't so bad, but going back down can be a little tricky. 6th however, they are the devil's invention.
Anyone else had this happen? And does it go away?
I have been suffering terribly from hand and forearm cramping. the tendinitus is acting up from working out jazz chords for days on end. remember my 'sprianed qwrist blues' from almost two years ago? well, I pretty broke myself. I am damaged goods and probably will remain that way. the physical therapy exercises help with the cronic stiffness, but it won't 'cure' my tendons. they basically got a flat tire. ow.
when evr I play/study my guitar in hopes of learning new techniques or something deeper about the instrument I play until it hurts. I don't have the pointy stick attack feel, but close.
the reward is the brain groth. it shows up many days, weeks, months or years later when yopu have the 'aha' moment. you will see yourself playing things you had never knew you could.
no pain..no gain.
you may find some demonic intervals in this ...

That reminds me of a club night I used to frequent and ended up playing at, in a mash up set with a DJ and no rehearsed set. Interesting...
My brain still hurts, but the torture is surprisingly fun!
