hi guys,

i'm looking to buy a vintage les paul standard, custom or deluxe, or an es335 from the early 70s. i've searched online for info but haven't found what i'm looking for - something that says what to watch out for, i.e. what are the best and worst guitars in this period... i know gibson standards were dropping then, but of course a 60s gibson is out of my price range ($3000).

I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on what a good model/deal would be (from a playing point of view, not investing) and what are ones to avoid from this period...

so far the best thing i've found is a les paul custom from the 70s, all original for $2000...

any help much appreciated, thanks!

sache

I own 3 Gibson LPs, but I am no vintage expert. There is a Les Paul forum. I don't know if I can post the website - not sure if this board prohibits it. You can Google it and find it easy enough. ANYWAY, there are TONS of vintage Gibson guys on that site. They will be able to best help you.
