What is the best amp that will not cost alot (around 100)?
I have a Vox DA5 (can be battery powered) and also a Roland Cube30X both nice little solid state amps
I know a little bit about a lot of things, but not a lot about anything...
Looking for people to jam with in Sydney Oz.......
This is the best I can find, simply by google, and some experience, beating out the Epiphone Valve junior which is at $159 and has 5 tube watts, with one control, and favors distortion and gives you a pretty wild sound, if that's what you want?
But this is more adjustable, has a 12" speaker, and should work clean as well, together with a lead or dirty channel.

I have tried in my way to be free.
a used one.
I think used is your best bet. Lots of people trade these entry level amps just to get a bigger better one. That means there is nothing wrong with the amp. Clearance items from places like Musicians Friend can be good finds as well. I got a Hughes & Kettner 15 watt amp for $50 that origionally sold for $150.
If I had to get a new amp for $100 right now ... I think it might be this one.

I really like my Roland Cube 30x. Good range of sounds, plenty loud, nice effects. Clean/Tweed setting with reverb sounds very nice. Plus all the extra features (headpones, aux in, tuner, ...).
Depends what you're looking for. As far as versatile modeling amps go, check out the Peavey Vypyr 15. Should keep you busy for awhile!
Thats what I thought ... oh the gas!

Vox Pathfinder 15r. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-Pathfinder-15R-Guitar-Amp-with-Reverb?sku=481948
Great little amp for the $, and LOUD!

I'd second used! A small solid state amp doesn't wear out fast, or need much work. But people sell them on as they want something bigger, better and louder.
Another thought- you haven't said what you play, or what you want the amp for. If you're starting out, sometimes a cheap amp and a decent multi-fx unit is a good place to start. Lets you explore all kinds of sounds options.
(I have a Strong 10Watt combo and a Digitec RP50 and am having a heck of a time.)
Best,
Ande
PS- I have a soldering iron, know how to use it. Which crate have you got, Jason.
There really are so many choices. Thats why they invented GAS I suppose.
