I liked rap back in 89 when the lyrics actually meant something.

Like:

Tone Loc - Wild Thing and Funky Cold Madina
Young MC - Bust a Move

See popular rap was ALWAYS as cheasy as 80's metal.

Santa didn't bring me any rap CD's.....so saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad......

(That's irony if you're being nice, sarcasm otherwise...)

We've had discussions on rap before, I've stated my position, I HATE IT....I've been told I should listen to some real rap, I've had a lot of good advice on these forums, but that's one piece I wont be taking....

In my opinion (and we are back to "Opinions and polls," right?) rap and music don't belong in the same sentence....rap music is the ULTIMATE oxymoron!!!!!!

:D :D :D

For those who say they'd like some good rap, try the Streets (it's actually just Mike Skinner.

Songs Like "Dry Your Eyes" are just fantastic. First verse and chorus:

In one single moment your whole life can turn 'round
I stand there for a minute starin' straight into the ground
Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down
World feels like it's caved in – proper sorry frown
Please let me show you where we could only just be, for us
I can change and I can grow or we could adjust
The wicked thing about us is we always have trust
We can even have an open relationship, if you must
I look at her she stares almost straight back at me
But her eyes glaze over like she's lookin' straight through me
Then her eyes must have closed for what seems an eternity
When they open up she's lookin' down at her feet

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now
It's over

Mike has a great sense of humor that comes across in many of his songs. "Fit but you know it" has sentiment in it that every normal guy has experienced at least once:

See I reckon you're about an 8 or a 9,
Maybe even 9 and a half in four beers time.
That blue top shop top you've got on IS nice,
Bit too much fake tan though - but yeah you score high.

But theres just one little thing that really really,
Really really annoying me about you you see,
Yeah yeah like i said you are really fit
But my gosh don't you just know it

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Yeah, I love The Streets. That whole album is great. I love the way the story progresses.

Rap is torture. :)

Though I listen to Cypress Hill and Saul Williams.

Ive never liked rap but my friend let me borrow the Rage Against the Machine final show DVD, and they are just amazing. There's not a song on that performance I don't like.

For instance, if I had an army ready to attack another, I would set up a massive wall of speakers and blast them with Heavy Metal music for hours, if not days. That would certainly unsettle anyone, but especially those unfamiliar with this type of music.

Then you attack.

s'been done Wes. We rolled into Iraq blaring AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" and some years back, when we extracted Noriega, it was following a 3-day seige where we blasted rock music at his compound 24/7. (well, 24/3)

No, I've never seen that movie.

As I said earlier, I am not about war. I do believe it is necessary at times, but should be the last resort.
You might like it. Most of the characters in Kelly's Heroes weren't about war either. They were opportunists, WWII is just the setting for the story. It stars Carroll O'Connor, Don Rickles, Telly Savales, Clint Eastwood, and Donald Sutherland. Probably some others that I'm forgetting, but it was an awesome cast, and a great story. (and pretty funny)
But making people listen to hours of Rap is absolute torture.

Amen

I trust that the correct artists and/or music publishers got satisfactory royalties for the use of their music as weapons in the three-day siege?
