I've got a notion to try and get rid of some chimey trem noises from one of my econo-wannabe Strats. I think this is actually the trem that is in my XV-870. http://store.guitarfetish.com/Vintage-USA-Strat-Steel-Saddle-Trem_p_846.html The guitar's marketing hype spells it out here. http://www.guitarfetish.com/XV-870-2-Tone-Sunburst-Rosewood-Fingerboard_p_908.html

Here's a trem system with a different block material than what I have. http://www.guitarfetish.com/USA-Spaced-Solid-Brass-Block-Tremolo-Complete-Kit_p_1239.html As you can tell by the marketing hype, this trem simply HAS to be 40-times better than the stock one that sells for $10 less.

What do you think? Better tone, less chimeyness? Waste of dough?

While I'm at it, I'm considering these, too. Not sure why. they just look like the string has to stay in place better. Heck, the marketing text clearly indicates that these will "breath some TONE" into my guitar. It doesn't say if that is chimey tone that I don't want or not. http://store.guitarfetish.com/Upgrade-Stainless-Steel-Saddles-Fits-Trems-Set-of-Six_p_773.html

Thoughts, anyone?

TR, you've upgraded some SXs with GF parts. Which trem did/do you prefer?

Well, I don't think those parts will fit the Xaviere as it is an Asain guitar. I got this one. http://store.guitarfetish.com/Made-in-Mexico-Import-Strat-UPGRADE-trem-Solid-STEEL-block_p_489.html Not sure about it being chimey but the origional trem was made of cheap metal and had cheap saddles. The intonation adjustment was rough at best so I decided to upgrade. This one has a solid steel block so is supposed to help sustain. I dunno if it does but I got no gripes with it.

The 870 is USA spaced. I even measured to be certain.

I'll look for the solid steel description in the USA sizes and see if that's what I have or if it's an upgrade, although I'm pretty sure what I have iw what I listed. I'll email them tomorrow for a ruling. :)

Thanks for taking a look. 8) 8)
