Stormy Monday: It was alot farther last time for Tom Jones...Tunica, Mississippi. Besides, my father-in-law lives there and we have a place to stay. We're also taking in Disney's Animal Kingdom. Cypress Gardens is a longer trip, and we've done that for three concerts: Little Richard, Styx and Tommy James. Atlanta is a good trek, too. More expensive due to the cost of staying in Atlanta for the night. The last concert there was Jethro Tull. Biloxi for Johnny Rivers was a long stretch, but, hey, it was Johnny Rivers! What gets you there isn't the hotel of the food or the drinks or the shows, it's the slot machines!

The way we look at it, the trip is part of the fun. Making pilgrimages to see concerts is all part of the deal. We just love going to concerts.

...and as far as a long trip for a concert...there is a possibility of this fall using the frequent flyer miles to fly to San Francisco. Why? Because Oscar Peterson only plays in Oakland. 8)

Roger Waters....TONIGHT !!!

Taking into account the time difference you are probably there right now (or just leaving).

Hope you had a great time.

I'm trying to get tickets for the UK leg but dates are a bit of an issue a the moment.

hoping to see Godsmack this summer, that's the only one I've planned out so far, the rest just happen.

in addition to my Evanescence, Killers and Fall Out Boy shows, I am also going to see Damien Rice and The Stooges.

and last ngiht I saw Jared Campbell at PhillyU. He was great. I met him like 2 years ago at a show in the basement of a museum at harrisburg when he played a long set for like 100 people. and last night i went to buy his new cd and remembered me and my girlfriend as "the ones in the front row in that crazy basement in harrisburg."

Hear was great! About 80% of the musci was from the first two lps. A good selection of the Heart catalogue. Famous for Led Zeppelin covers, they did Black Dog and Misty Mountain Hop. But the high point was an absolutely spectacular cover of The Who's Love Reign O're Me. Definately worth it.

Next week: The New Cars.

Well my 10 day music extravaganza got off to a great start on Thursday evening when I went to see this guy at the Kings Theatre in Portsmouth.

Wow. I was 3 when Jimi died so never got the chance to see him live. John Campbell is simply amazing. He is Jimi reincarnate. If you ever get the chance go and see him. I know the purists will say that there can never be another Jimi - and I'd have to agree - but for those of us not fortunate enough to have seen him this guy does a great job of recapturing some of the magic. He is the full package. His sound, his playing. Hell, he even looks like Jimi.

This afternoon I'm off to see The Who at Southampton Rosebowl. Looking forward to seeing them again. Tuesday night I'm seeing Gary Moore at Portsmouth Guild Hall and next weekend I'm off to the Isle of Wight Festival for 3 days of musical shenanigans with Muse, Kasabian, Echo and the Bunnymen, Snow Patrol, Wolfmother, Ash, The Rolling Stones an many more. :D And Mel C.

What a week.

Well, I've already been to 2 of my 3 big shows this summer. May 31 I saw Chris Cornell in a 1500 person club here in Nashville, great show. Last Wednesday I drove my 15 year old son and a friend of his to Atlanta to see Rush play the first show of their tour. What an amazing show. I had seen them before, but they hadn't. Both are huge Rush fans and I found out while driving down that this was the first concert ever for my son's friend.

Coming up August 11 will be another road trip with my son to Cleveland, OH to see Dream Theater.
