The local music is having a sell and the store has one left so far, I was thinking about buying, if though I have a Jimmie Vaughan model strat.

For that price, I'd be on that like a chicken on a bug.
Heck, you could raise the action a tad, leave it in open G or another "slide-type" tuning, and become the next Duane Allman.
It could also be a "test bed" for mods like this: http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/sw2.php .
Grab it.

I just went and got it. It is a Affinity Squire strat (sunburst). It is a blem, and the pickup selecter is not secure, the pickguard is cracked so, I'm getting the tools out right now.

Heck, $15 gets you a new selector and pickguard if things don't work out right fixing it. $40 is a steal!

Nice catch man. I'm glad you picked it up. For that amount of cash, you really couldn't not. So how does it sound/play/feel/look?

Good buy djdubb! Man, for $40 you can't go wrong. Let us know how the repairs go.

Yeah, that's pretty trivial stuff to fix. Great deal!

I first started playing it the pickups would not work, so I took off the pickguard and snapped the selector in place by luck. Then the pickups started working. It plays great it has a very different sound than my Jimmie Vaughan Tex-mex pickup strat. The neck is fast but the back of it not too smooth. This weekend I will go home and play it through my Deville.

Glad you people told me to get it, it's my 4th guitar and I got 4 more to go!

Well obviously that's a great deal,I'll bet it's not the last guitar you buy cheap but it may end up being your favourite!! I was in Toronto all week and I was at seven guitar shops and I wasn't impressed at all so when you see a bargain by all means grab it! There have been a few guys here that mod they're guitars and they have been very happy and they've upgraded enough to encourage us all. I never met a guitar I didn't like.
