Hey guys, I have the oppertunity to learn ProTools through my university. Its free, but very time consuming. Should I invest in this? How versitile is this toolset?

ProTools is one of the industry standard systems - that doesn't make it the best, just widely accepted.  Buying a copy won't be a waste of money, but I don't know if there is an alternative (better?  cheaper?) that you'd be better off learning, so then you'd know how to use 2 different packages.
