It may not be what you are looking for, but I have a table of  the most common scales:

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Find a scale book that tells you how to build scales in terms of whole and half steps.  Once you learn the whole and half step pattern of a note you can build any scale picking any note as the first or tonic of the scale.  Example:  Major w-w-h-w-w-w-h   Between bc and ef is a half step the rest are whole steps.

c   d   e   f   g   a   b   c    C Major
 w  w  h  w   w  w  h

Half steps spans 2 frets, whole step spans 3 frets.

Spider,

a half step or semi tone is represented by moving up or down one fret. A whole tone/step is represented by moving up or down the neck by two frets.

I understand (at third reading) what you are saying, but IMHO it is a confusing way of saying it. It would be easy to read it as being a half step is when you move two frets up the neck (which is how I first read it) and I don't think that is what you mean.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Greybeard,
You are right it is a bit confusing.  My bad!  Your method of counting up or down frets would be easier.  I just taught my self to count startring from the number 1 not 0.
Thanks for clearing that up!
