David, 1-800-391-8762----24/7---product # 518800---thay can HELP you

$59.99--NO TAX

Are you folks getting a kickback on these? Dang, I haven't had this much high pressure sales attack in a long time.

Other than the plug jack being in the worst place possible, are they really any good? (See the last couple of reviews on the MF page.)

If I'm going to let go of money (I'm a tightwad) and get in Dutch with the Misses, I want to make sure I'm getting something that is quality. I mean, it wouldn't take many sets of strings to cost more than that lap steel.

If it ain't true, it ain't blues.

For $60 its a gas! Nice tone! You will want to get a right angled jack with it and put on some thicker gage strings and Dr ric suggests using some olive oil on the wooden nut.
BTW I checked out your sound click site :D , nice tunes, sounds great--the dog

No, no kickback. This is just musical peer pressure.

I've already rambled on at considerable length about my Artisan. I think it's a really nice little instrument. A right angled plug on the cord takes care of that bad jack placement.

I was hoping there wee more hidden problems. It would make my GAS attacks easier to deal with. My biggest problem is not having time to play the instruments I already have. But, a lap steel just has that special sound...

I actually know a guy that plays peddle steel, mainly country, and he has offered to show me some things if I ever make the leap. That $60 deal is awfully tempting...

And thanks for the kind words on my tunes. They're definitely in the "just for fun" category, but so is my musical ambition. It works out real well that way!

Any hidden problems in mine are hidden well enough that I haven't found them in a month.

And I still think that slide tune you recorded for the first Big Road Blues CD, with the aquarium pump bubbling in the background, was terrific! You need to post that up somewhere for the rest to hear.

There's really no risk involved, the Artisans sell for around $100 on eBay (Musiciansfriend don't ship overseas, so all 'foreigners' will have to buy them at a higher price elsewhere) - you'll get your money back if you don't like it.
Many of the seasoned players on the Steel Guitar Forum has been positively surprised when they've bought an Artisan to have as a cheapo they don't need to worry about.

Just go ahead and take the leap.

I added the Soundclick link to my signature. Its on there: Alone With My Thoughts.

Funny how people either like Alone With My Thoughts or Among the Leaves, but tend not to like both. (Nobody seems to like Cold Track Blues.)

Maybe I could sit in front of the aquarium and play the lap steel, but I moved my tape recorder and amp out to the shop (to my wife's great satisfaction) so that won't be happening.

You need an aquarium out there. Or at least a pump and a bowl of water. Great effect.

Maybe I could go for a different effect and fire up the forge, or at least the cutting torch. Might have to wait for winter for that one.
