I don't know how to word this so it makes sense, but the first line of each verse is seperated from the rest of the verse as there is "a brief musical interlude" between them, as if there was another line unspoken.  I hope somebody can figure out what I mean by that.  Again, for reference, Diana is the goddess of the moon.

I know the rhyming scheme is a bit unusual, but as a folk song leaning toward celtic ballad, I think it works.

This song can be interpreted at least three ways.  I am curious what it means to each reader.  Please give me not only your criticism, but your interpretations as well.

The Midnight Dance

Far from the solitude of his urban life

He paced the forest floor to escape the pain and noise
Full lit Diana called from her heavenly nest
Take my gift of peace
accept my offered rest

The night voice of God's creatures

spoke out each his own then melded into one
Curious he followed the voice into the night
His mind and soul and heart
his only guiding light

Wrapped in Diana's whispering candlelight
She was the forest in full song
Wrapped in Diana's whispering candlelight
In this dark we call creation

From oaken shadow he watched her dance

The swirl of her ivy gown, soft moss upon her feet
He found himself enraptured, no schedule to abide
Twirling on together
Troubles thrown aside

Her smile was all-knowing joy

Flowers first surrounded, then became her gloried face
As she gracefully retreated with the melting mist of dawn
He felt her arms around him
Never again to be alone

Wrapped in Diana's whispering candlelight
She was the forest in full song
Wrapped in Diana's whispering candlelight
In this dark we call creation

He not busy being born is busy dying. - Bob Dylan (It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding)
