Whilst I've got a free weekend I was inspired to take one of my old SSG songs from way back in 2004, record it and put it up on soundclick.
You'll have to forgive the quality, it's my first go at recording and you'll also need to forgive the shoddy guitar solo.
Still it's all my own work and I'm quite pleased with it overall.
The song has changed a bit since I first posted it way back then(for a start one of the characters dies) but here are the current lyrics

and here is the link http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6693022

Capricorn and Scorpio

Capricorn sat at a greasy table
Watching his coffee grow cold
He was just passing through this town
Working his way down the road
Like the moon he could only shine
In someone else's light
He was feeling pretty tired and lonely
On a starlit Saturday night

Scorpio walked into the bar
Hanging on a couple of friends
She'd always had this thing about
Pissed off looking men
Like the sun she loved to shine
On everything in sight
She was feeling just a little bit crazy
On a starlit saturday night

Nights have always been like this
It was written in the stars
Capricorn and scorpio
Jupiter and mars

Her friends lit out about closing time
They were just about to do the same
When she said lets get out of this town
And never come back again.
Like the moon he could only shine
In someone else's light
He said Babe we're already gone
On a starlit saturday night

They headed south on two wheels
Their feet never touched the ground
She held on tight behind him
He never looked around
Like the sun she loved to shine
On everything in sight
He just wanted to hold her closer
On a starlit Saturday night

Nights have always been like this
It was written in the stars
Capricorn and Scorpio
Jupiter and Mars

Every time the road turned
She made another friend
And everybody told her
She should see the world with them
Like the moon he could only shine
in someone else's light
And one day she just up and left him
On a starlit Saturday night

He tracked her down behind a bar
Wearing someone else's ring
And all the light she'd shone on him
It didn't mean a thing
Like the sun she loved to shine
on everything in sight
But that light went out in a flash of steel
On a starlit Saturday night

Nights have always been like this
It was written in the stars
Capricorn and Scorpio
Jupiter and Mars

Capricorn sat at a greasy table
Watching his coffee grow cold
He was just passing through this town
Working his way down the road
Like the moon he could only shine
In someone else's light
He's still waiting on Scorpio
And the stars still shine at night.

I'm one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind

Hi :D

Interesting song 8)

About the only thing I have a problem with is the characteristics of Scorpio and Capricorn.
They don't really jive with the true astrological traits of those two signs.

Scorpio is anything but flighty.
Scorpio's are well known for being the most loyal friend and lover of the zodiac.

On the other hand; Libra (sun signs) have a reputation for being a bit flighty.
And if they were born between 1971 and 1984, having Pluto in Libra.... Then....

Pluto in Libra

This placement lasts from 1971 to 1984. For those who are now adults, this period represents the greatest breakdown in modern history in the relationship of marriage. Many couples live together without getting married, and those that marry often do not stay married. Because of the general instability of their parents' marriages, the children of this era will have a much more fluid but unstable view of relationships and mutual commitments between people. They may be very reluctant to make binding agreements because of their childhood experience of marriage.

As for the 'Shines like the sun' bit....
Leo is ruled by the sun.... and they love to make friends.

As for the Cappy in this situation.... well,
Seeing as how you have them shining in someone elses light, like the moon....
The moon rules Cancer.
And Cancers are clingy types that never let go of the past.
I could toatally see the Cappy person as a moody Cancerian.... Chasing Libra around and pining for her.

I like the use of Jupiter in the Jupiter and Mars bit.

"If poorly placed or afflicted it symbolizes indiscriminate sensuality, self-indulgence, wastefulness, greed, avarice, dilettantes, and wanderers. Jupiter rules Sagittarius where it embodies all the planet's positive aspects, and is exalted in Cancer where it expands the nurturing, mothering principle."

I don't know if you based this on two real people, and their respective sun signs....
They of course could have the traits mentioned....
My observations are very superficially based.... mostly on sun sign characteristics.

Thanks Ken,
I hadn't ever considered that my song writing might play havoc with astrological truths.
Most of my songs are a bit of autobiography, a pinch of metaphor and a whole heap of make believe but the two central characters are based on a snapshot in time of a couple of real people.
Mostly I was just going for a song that sounded good to sing though.
I'm not sure that Cancer and Libra would cut it as a song title but you've given me alot to think about.
I might sit down and write a song about some characters lifted straight out of an astrology book and see how that works out.
Cheers
Beren
