Hey gang,
I found myself a little shy on inspiration this week. It happens. But I forced myself to finish. I don't really like it, but its what I've got. Maybe I'll go back and rework it at some point. The music I've set it to has pauses between lines, so the long unruley lines do fit with a bit of work, and don't sound half bad.
Going Nowhere,Somewhere in Southern California
Title: Scratchmonkey
Chorus: MarvelousOptimist
Racing the fault line north to Guadalupe hoping to beat the big one
Road signs lost all meaning back in Escondido
Crumpled map in the passenger seat
Fast food wrappers line the floor
Gotta be a higher gear than the one I'm ridin in
Im going nowhere.. and the sunshine is getting to me
Wish i was somewhere without beaches or palm trees
Southern California looks like heaven.. i know
But there's someplace that I'd rather be
Sunset must have cast its rays over the ocean
Red and golden, heat waves, but I never noticed
Finally switch the headlights on
Thought I don't really care to see where I going
Head is noddin' in equal parts to the music and to exhaustion
Im going nowhere.. and this hard drive is getting to me
Heading for somewhere without beaches or palm trees
Southern California looks like heaven.. i know
But there's someplace that I'd rather be
Street lights of Rio Dell pollute the night on the horizon
Keep my right foot down 'cause I'm still east of Eden
Left regrets back in Chula Vista
Forget their faces by Santa Clarita
Should be past all these Spanish names by morning
Im going nowhere.. and the sunshine is getting to me
Wish i was somewhere without beaches or palm trees
Southern California looks like heaven.. i know
But there's someplace that I'd rather be
Im going nowhere.. and the memory's getting to me
Looking for dreams without beaches or palm trees
Southern California looks like heaven.. i know
But I've been running from there for years
Sorry to do a chorus that's been done a few times already, but I started back before anyone posted.
