Topic starter

I thought I'd have a second go at this week's topic........

Kind of inspired by the Marilyn (the Mrs) a little earlier - some kids (16-18 year olds) kicking a ball about on the front, every couple of minutes there's a clang as the ball hits our gate or a rattle of stones as someone comes in the garden for the ball....she says to me, you going to have a word with those kids? At the time I'm on a ladder, trying to work out which wire's which on a ceiling fan we bought, what goes to the motor, what goes to the light? It's about 80 degrees, I'm sweating like a pig in a bacon factory, my glasses are steaming up and I'm in serious need of at least one extra hand - one to hold the damn thing up, one to hold things in place and the third one for the screwdriver......

So I said, "you do it....I'm busy......"......I really should have known better......2 minutes later, half the street's involved in a row, the other half's out watching.......

Gunboat Diplomacy

I told you not to interfere,
Not to meddle in my affairs,
But you had to have your say,
And now the situation's beyond repair......

I said, "Leave it to me,"
I really don't need your help,
Now you've messed it up well and truly,
I could have sorted it out myself.....

You may have thought you were doing the right thing,
But you should have left well alone,
Now there's no going back, and there's no way out,
No way forward and no way home......

Your idea of diplomacy,
Is to wade in, all guns blazing,
Turn the streets into rivers of blood,
Turn 'em into crazy paving,

And tact is a foreign word to you,
And so is commonsense,
There's only right and wrong,
No sitting on the fence.....

You may have thought you were doing the right thing,
But you should have left well alone,
Now there's no going back, and there's no way out,
No way forward and no way home......

So in the future, if we have a future,
Let me take over, or else we're lost,
You can turn the slightest disagreement,
Into a fully-fledged holocaust......

You may have thought you were doing the right thing,
But you should have left well alone,
Now there's no going back, and there's no way out,
No way forward and no way home......

Like I said, it's a gentle poke at the Mrs - her idea of diplomacy is "NUKE THE B******S!".......and no, I haven't shown her this song yet, and I'm not planning to until she's a LOT calmer.....

:D :D :D

Woo-hoo Vic! Two songs this week. :D

Nice piece you wrote. What a way to be inspired to write a song. Sometimes it doesn't take take much to be inspired either. Good way to burn off frustration to, just write a song.

Women are from Mars and Men are from Earth I say

Sincere appology to all female readers ,

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
