Hello. I am James and I have been receiving the newsletter for a couple of years, but have only posted for my first time right now. I hope you enjoy my application of the "Heavenly Bodies" songwriter's topic this week. I eagerly await your critique and interpretation of this passage I drummed up. The song name is Rainbow Bride.

Rainbow Bride

Full moon shadows - forest floor
Reflecting image - her backdoor
Who could have seen her coming
On the shaft of her delight

Satellite orbit - Earthly plane
Drive her home once again
Her shudder rushes forth
Her pleasure quite a sight

Stardust blasts her darkened void
Her asteroids tender and annoyed
Clouds obscure her swollen eyes
She is my rainbow bride

That's all for now! I look forward to a continued relationship with you all!

Wel the imagery is certainly strong, but are you sure you got the right forum? This is guitarnoise, not Playboy......

No-one wants to be prudish, but I for one very often have kids and grandkids looking over my shoulder and asking "What does that mean"...

This is a family forum and I think we'd all like to keep it that way......

I think you said it best: The Imagery. I am not a porn star, but I am a writer and guitarist. I think this is the correct forum. I am not here to debate the issue, however. I was hoping to get some honest feedback on my writing. There is no profanity in the passage, though much music today is riddled with blatant profanity, sex, and violence. Prime-time television offers a more risque program than these lyrics. I am sorry if this offends you, but I do not believe I am violation of the TOS.

I also have two boys of my own. If they were viewing this material and asked what it meant, it would be my personal decision as to whether I would explain it to them. If you need a way out, simply respond "I don't know sweetie," and move on. I would appreciate your feedback on future writing, though, and hope this does not somehow shatter my receiving honest feedback in the future.

Perhaps you have built a lot of relationships here and can speak for everyone. However, Jimi Hendrix was hardly a family-values kinda guy and he is the featured logo at the top of the page. Do you know the lyrics to some of his songs? I guarantee your children and grandchildren would not have to ask what he meant - it is graphically obvious. I can understand some profanity restrictions, but imagery restrictions? I have not attacked or defamed anyone in my simple passage.

Again, I am sorry you took offense and feel the way you do. I am not sorry I posted my piece in this forum and do not believe it to be inappropriate. Humorous? Perhaps. Controversial? Perhaps. Thought provoking? Clearly. A violation? I would be surprised (and disappointed) to find that out.

I repeat my request for feedback on the piece. If you wish to judge it on a moral basis, perhaps the site should be named GuitarChurch. Another alternative could be to create a "Saturday Night Songwriter's Group" for unrated (family-unfriendly?) material. <--- humor intended...

Sincerely,

Sauce

Not taking offence, Jim, I'm as broadminded as the next man - I actually liked your lyrics, though it seemed to me they were laden with sexual innuendos.....

I liked it myself, but you have to remember, this is a forum whose members are encouraging their kids to get into music from an early age - the earlier the better.....and those kids read these forums....

As I said before, perhaps a "Parental Advisory" notice might be in order?
I don't wish to discourage you from posting, that's the last thing I'd wish to do......

I look forward to hearing more from you, like I said, you have a way with words.......

Re Hendrix......I was never a big fan......I was, and still am, a big fan of the Stones.......Jagger's lyrics can be a little, OK a lot!!! sexually charged at times......but if I was posting one of his songs on, say, the easy song database, I'd use asterisks........

I am by no means the moral guardian of these forums, I just think we should be proud of the reputation we have as the best free guitar site on the web, anyone can chip in and contribute, but let's keep it clean. OK?

Let's keep it a family site........
