A little ditty about the pressure of life in the fast lane....haven't quite worked out the music yet, but I'm thinking fast hard rock.....
Signs.
(Verse)The signs were there, I chose not to see,
Just carried on anyway,
I chose to ignore the warnings,
And continued on my merry way.
(Verse)Anyone with any sense'd slow down,
And take heed of the signs,
But not me, I floored the pedal,
Darn the torpedos, got to make up time,
(Chorus)I can't afford to slow down,
I've got deadlines to make,
I can't afford to take it easy,
There's too much at stake.....
(Verse)Speed limits? Ah, they're just guides,
As long as I can see the white lines,
I don't care what the speedo says,
Go to make my next appointment on time,
(Verse)I'm way behind, I've got to catch up,
Got to make some speed up on the straights,
Should have been there yesterday,
Tomorrow morning'll be too late...
(Chorus)I can't afford to slow down,
I've got deadlines to make,
I can't afford to take it easy,
There's too much at stake.....
(Bridge)I didn't hit the brakes, I took a corner too fast,
Trying to make up time, nearly ended up dead,
Skidded, skipped, lost it lost and flipped,
Somersaulted into a hospital bed....
(Verse)Now I've got no car and I've got no career,
Through my own stupidity,
I didn't take notice, didn't slow down,
Now everybody's overtaking me.
(Chorus)I thought I couldn't afford to slow down,
I had too many deadlines to make,
I thought I couldn't afford to take it easy,
That was my biggest mistake......
:D :D :D
Vic
"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
you go Vic thats awesome
thats so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice Vic.
If you're thinking fast rock (certainly sounds like a good choice), I think you're going to find the last two lines of the last chorus:
I thought I couldn't afford to slow down,
I had too many deadlines to make,
I thought I couldn't afford to take it easy,
That was my biggest mistake
a bit of a tongue twister. You might find it easier to sing by chopping off the front ends of the lines a bit (would also better stick with the meter of the first sets of choruses):
Couldn't afford to slow down,
Had too many deadlines to make,
Couldn't afford to take it easy,
That was my biggest mistake
Just a thought. May not even matter depending on how it fits with the music you eventually get.
And so the second hundred gets started!
Peace
Great message Vic, and I liked the fact that it went somewhere as a story too. (memo: we need a thumbs up icon....)
There's a roundabout that I have to negotiate each morning that could use you standing there and singing it to some of the nutters that hurtle past in manic pursuit of the next dollar...
Cheers,
Chris
Tossing in my two cents . . . yep, streamline the wording
and some alternate/optional wording in case it doesn't flow smoothly
(Streamlining? Flow? Are we designing a boat?)

You know me, I like a song that tells a story.
So I like this one.
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
