Hi all

Great fun this. Given the opportunity to write a song for a film... :D

Ok, I see this more as the song that is played over the credits at the end, rather than the main introduction song as the film deserves a smoother balad or just a nice soundtrack, but I think you can really rip it home at the end - there's some great songs at the end of films....

Now, I'm probably going to get my electric guitar out for this one and learn some power chords for this one, but I'm lagging behind terribly with my mp3s so i don't know when I'll be able to do it.

I like the idea of heavy rock - like "You Know My Name," performed by Chris Cornell for Casino Royale.

Rain Man

Fast cars, big cigars, everything you need
In-crowd, getting round, rolling up your sleeves
Things going bad you know you gotta do the deal
The EPA are putting on the feel it just ain real....

Cash calling when the old man passed away
You get a Buick and a brother on that revelation day
Don't understand but you know he just aint right
He's got the money so he's comin with you alright.

Heavy Chorus
Why are you stalling what you recalling your the Rain Man, Rain Man, Rain Man
Stare at the tv, questions are easy your the Rain Man Rain Man, Rain Man
The numbers falling the bright lights calling your my Rain Man Rain Man
Just look at me I'll set you free you are my Rain Man Rain Man Rain Man

Guitar riff bridge

Verse
Can't get no contact or make you understand
You are my brother c'mon will you do what I demand
I am your keeper while you sleep I have a master plan
We'll rule together yeh we'll take this promise land

Lighter chorus bridge

Those Vegas lights are calling just count don't make a fuss
We're on a winning streak a game of them and us
Don't answer questions and we'll soon be on our way
The cards are falling like the rain so let us play...

Verse
I have a chance right now to make a brand new start
As kids we played I know why we were torn apart
But you don't know the way things really have to be
We're not just brothers we're our only family

Heavy Chorus
Why are you stalling what you recalling your the Rain Man, Rain Man, Rain Man
Stare at the tv, questions are easy your the Rain Man Rain Man, Rain Man
The numbers falling the bright lights calling your my Rain Man Rain Man
Just look at me I'll set you free you are my Rain Man Rain Man Rain Man

Thanks for reading

Rock on!

Dylan,
Good write :D
Looks like you got the gist of the movie covered. Looks like it could be a good rocker :note2:

Suggestion
Maybe this line works musically, but as a read it seems like a mouthful.

"You get a Buick and a brother on that revelation day"
maybe
You get a Buick and a brother; revelation day
or
You get a Buick and a brother both in one day
or
You get a Buick and a brother on the same day

Well, looks like we've come full circle already, and back to Tom Cruise again...but this time wearing pants
Y7Wk5 Rock n' Rolls
I really enjoyed the 'old time rock and roll' bit at the end - always reminds me of Tom Cruise in his underpants... hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have said that...

...or maybe all roads lead to Tom Cruise if traveled long enough...there's a moment of Zen thought for the day :o

Hi James

Yeh, thanks - I reckon it will be a good rocker....

Yup, played around with that line a few times, and I think wrote all your lines in at one time or another... :?
Maybe I need to get the music together and see how it comes together before making a decision..

As you know, I'm a Cruise fan (don't ask me why, I've never met the guy) so I suppose it's not a coincidence I've picked that film, but I liked the early Dustin Hoffman stuff too, so that was a double-whammy for me...

I always like the story of when Cruise was living in London on the edge of Regen'ts Park and pretty soon after he moved in, he wandered down to the local video shop to get some films out for the night. The young assistant refused to let him join because he hadn't got any formal identification. He went around the shop and showed him his identification, but the assistant stood his ground and Cruise left empty handed - most excellent story. The assistant kept his job as well so nice to see that justice was done.

Rock on!

Tom Cruise in his underpants..

i'm disturbed...
Don't understand but you know he just aint right
He's got the money so he's comin with you alright.

the "right/alright" rhyme rubs me the wrong way... I think because it is pretty much the same word except in the second line it's just a tag on... maybe a "comin with you tonight" or "comin with you first light" or "it was love at first sight" (wait, x the last one :? ) or maybe "don't fully understand his problems and really you don't care, he's got the money that you need, you'll take him anywhere"

Like it. Good summary of the main points of the movie.
