Hi all

Thought of resurrecting Rain Man, but that would be cheating, so I knew I'd written another song a while back about rain so I found it out of the vaults, brushed it off, rewrote some of it and here it is:

Not sure about a title, but 'Raining' seems to fit quite nicely....

Raining

(A) I felt the morning chill as you (G) slid out from my bed
(A) The covers felt so warm (G) I didn't wanna move my head
(A) A clicking suitcase and (G) I knew what time it was
(A) Heard the back door close, I (G) don't think I get up ‘cos it's...

(F) Raining, (G) raining all the time
(F) It's raining, (G) raining in my mind
(F) Raining (G) from the clouds you left behind
(F) Raining, (G) raining (F) raining... (G)

Don't feel like working as I sit here at my desk
Stare at a black screen the reflection is a mess
The scribbles on the page is a picture of my life
Silence surrounds me and it cuts just like a knife, and it's

(F) Raining, (G) raining all the time
(F) It's raining, (G) raining in my mind
(F) Raining (G) from the clouds you left behind
(F) Raining, (G) raining (F) raining... (G)

bridge (F) (G)

I catch the 8, it's late 8.45 it gives me time
To think about a way I can adjust this new life that's mine
Fly to the sun, but will a blue sky make me smile
I never can replace the love that's missin while it's...

(F) Raining, (G) raining all the time
(F) It's raining, (G) raining in my mind
(F) Raining (G) from the clouds you left behind
(F) Raining, (G) raining (F) raining... (G)

Thanks for reading.

Rock on!

Hey Dylan,

Good start :D

Reads well of the singer going through the day...or routine missing the singee.

Suggestion:
"Silence surrounds me and it cuts just like a knife, and it's"
This line might use some changing as it seems a bit cliche "cuts just like a knife" and it's not in line with the title.

It's also a bit confusing as the singer appears to be at work, but there is silence....a noiseless office?....Maybe give a hint at what kind of occupation if it would help round out his character or give a hint as to why the singee left.

Thanks for sharing.

James

Nice lyrics us reluctant wage slaves can relate to and a good catchy chorus.
Trying to get the feel of the chords you posted, are they full strummed chords or fast power chords?

Thanks Peter. Just full strum chords with variations which I haven't noted...., medium pace, not fast....

Hey James. I'm looking at this guy that's in a bit of a daze so he is at work but the everyday sounds and noises are passing him by because he's somewhere else... How about:

Don't feel like working as I sit here at my desk
Stare at a black screen the reflection is a mess
The senseless pen cuts through the paper like a knife
A crash of thunder brings my daydream back to life, and it's...

The guy is doodling on a pad, over and over and it's tearing through the pages...

Thanks for the input.

Rock on!

I like how the last line ties in to the theme :D

hi!

just wanted to say i like this a lot, especially the black screen/reflection line.
also am much in favour of your re-writing!
just wonder how it will be sung, "senseless" seems pretty long there.. but i trust you have a plan :D
"brings my daydream back to life" cool! :D
"Fly to the sun, but will a blue sky make me smile" :D
"Raining from the clouds you left behind" :D :D aw, i'm partial to clouds-following-a-person imagery :D

looks like it flows well & will sound great!
cheers,
straycat.
