I'M STONED
http://www.soundclick.com/neilstuart
I'm stoned
yes, I'm stoned
standing in the center
a stand alone dissenter
I'm stoned
Why can't you understand
I'm more than just one man
there are others you can't see
who think and act like me
I'm stoned
Taking all the pot shots
from all the little hot shots
don't really have a reason
just seems to be the season
I'm stoned
Why must the mobs rule
a community of fools
in sensitized by infection
unable to change direction
I'm stoned
you've heard what I have to say
you can't take that away
you can make me disappear
but you can't erase your fear
I'm stoned
Taking all the pot shots
from all the little hot shots
don't really have a reason
just seems to be the season
I'm stoned
Bleeding on the street
no longer on my feet
Rocks from every direction
a meaningless insurrection
I'm stoned
I'm hurt and can't get up
stone throwers can't you let up
why can't I have my say
must it always end this way
I'm stoned
Taking all the pot shots
from all the little hot shots
don't really have a reason
just seems to be the season
I'm stoned
not alone
Hi Neil,
I'm really glad you wrote this and got it on an MP3  ....I initially had the same idea...calling a song "Stoned" and then making it about a public stoning like Stephen, a Christian martyr......
He was stoned to death (c. A.D. 34–35) by an infuriated mob encouraged by Saul of Tarsus.[2]

.......or the prostitute who was brought to Jesus and asked what to do with.....interesting too that in the story with the prostitute, Jesus writes out the sins of those around him in the dirt and they all disperse; leaving the prostitute unharmed.....interesting that the song idea could have used both stones and dirt as key pieces to the lyrics....but I couldn't get it all down like you did
John 8:1-8

The music has an interesting "peace in the eye of the storm" effect.....I might have already mentioned this video before, but it seems similar to Fiona Apple's version of "Across the Universe"....as an ice cream shop is being trashed while she sings

Suggestion:
This is more personal preference, I'd kind of like some bread crumbs in a song to hear that the lyrics lead to a specific event....but it's definately not a must....many songs let the listener fill-in their own ideas
Thanks for sharing :D
