This is just a place to keep track of things that are different, wrong or need changing at some future date.

Avatars - was already mentioned

Can we turn off the "notify of response" default?

I can't find a default for the notify. But it can be turned of in profile under preferences.

Nick, if you find it in the Admin features feel free to disable it.

What kind of avatars does everyone like? Most ones available seem pretty cartoony and star warsy. Make your requests or send me the avatars you'd like to see.

Mine shows up in my admin profile, but not when I post.

Your Beavis avatar doesn't show either.

The feature I liked was being able to find and use my own avatar by entering a url for an image. That would be fine for me.
The Tabcrawler website forum used to give everyone a flag as an automatic avatar to indicate location. That's an option if you want automatic avatars -- though I'm personally not a great fan of flags.
Do you have to provide readymade avatars? I'd just let people choose their own if that works.

Wow! What a great avatar. Me like, me like! Huge is good. Size does matter.

I am downloading some avatars collections and will include the best on the site for users to choose from. I also saw a feature where country flags can appear just for moderators if anyone is interested.

Nick, can we keep the maximum avatar size 80 X 80 pixels and enforce that? I think that's a standard size or something.

I just reset the avatar size about three times. I'm not sure if it applies to links to urls from another site.

I'll do some research.

I'm working on dirty words now.

Avatar size does not apply to offsite. I would really like it to. Some of the large animated gifs really tip the scales size wise.

Paul, here is a link to the code to implement the change. At your leisure of course...

If you want a reason to scale avatars and limit them :

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Can't make topics "sticky"?

Also, the avatars were here a while ago, and now their gone? Bet Paul was messing with it. How did you guys find your GN avatars?

Nick found them. Mine was a URL link to Amazon; the link must have been archived. I imagine they'll show up automatically when Nick and Paul get the size issue resolved.

I turned them back off until we can install the limit. I don't want all the users emailing me asking why they don't show up anymore.

I think you can make sticky. I'll have to go back and check in a forum I moderate. But I just edited a thread and there was a sticky option listed at the bottom of the frame.
