Nick, I think it may be a bug in this version of phpbb. I vaguely remember a problem with it on another forum that I moderate.

We cut out avatar and signature pictures since it ate a lot of bandwidth.

There are several users now I'm seeing that have exceedingly large avatars. This, in combination with that ad bar on the right (have I mentioned yet how that irritates me?) are drastically reducing the size of the actual post portion of the tables.

I also just admonished someone in another thread for teaching a member how to leech an avatar picture from someone else's server. That's a fantastic way to get the other web host's attention in a not-so-friendly fashion.

Is there no end to this avatar madness?

I too have seen some very large avatars myself lately and in conjuntion with the advertising to the right leaves very little in the middle. On most forums it is just anoying but when trying to read TABs and such, it is impossible as it forces the code to wrap.

I don't see any advertising to the right. Must be a Firefox benefit.

Is that in IE?

I'll crack down on the avatar size.

As I said back in the other post MR. pilot, I was taught that way and MANY others are taught to do the same. If I remember correctly it's in the BBCode on this site.

Same here, IE.
In fact there is ads by google there right now as I am reading this thread.
(the ads change, some even have sound files which is even more annoying)

There is only one way to get rid of the advertising...

And I see it too with my Firefox.

Yup, start donating more than what we currently do and/or start a membership fee.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the ads it is just the location that disrupts the posts.

neither the avators or the Ad's have had any effect/ made it more challanging for me to view any post.

The only time it is a problem is when you get both and the post is a tab. I wasn't complaining I just jumped in to make a joke about the coke ad.

Could be one of two things, I have block popups enabled in Firefox and I have Norton Internet security with Ads blocked.
