Hear! Hear! Jason. I think what seperate's a good musician from a great musician is the fact that one KNOWS when to keep it simple and when to add the fancy bits. Bob Dylan's Masters Of War was done with one chord through the entire song, and very powerfully done! On the other hand, Blackbird just wouldn't be the same without the fancy bits up the neck.
Never assume the other fellow has intelligence equal to yours. He may have more.

when i first got my guitar i was the master of one chord songs! not so hard!!
