Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge" Riff Q

At the beginning of this song, the tab shows 5th fret A string and 2nd fret B string getting struck at the same time. How do you do that without striking the D and G strings at the same time? Are you supposed to deaden them? And if so, what technique do you use? Thanks

It's called "hybrid" pic'in, which means you use your pic for the A string and your ring finger or any other finger that you feel comfortable with (other than your thumb and index, if thats what you use to hold your pic) to pic the B string.

That makes total sense - thanks Tracker! Is it better to grow a fingernail on your ring finger and use it or the finger pad? The nail would probably ring a sharper note, which is what you'd want, right?
