I'd just like to say Drop C tuning is very handy and makes playing rock songs a lot easier. The only thing that can be a bit of a pain is tuning it to Drop C, but I'm new so I figure that'll get easier over time.

I actually took an existing tab for Smells Like Teen Spirit and re-tabbed in Drop C *is proud of self for that* Its a bit tricky to play now but I think its because I still have muscle memory playing it in standard tuning.

One thing I noticed is since I now barre most of the chords is my fingers hurt at the joints. Not the joints themselves but the skin over them......is that supposed to happen? Will it go away?

Yep. It's just like the fingertips hurting when you first start out. That skin will toughen up and stop hurting - just takes a little time.
