For anybody that is looking for a teacher it might be worth checking that site. It also shows rates, that might help give you an idea of what lessons go for in your area even if you can't find a teacher to match you.
Looks like I am very lucky to have found a teacher for $15 an hour.
He's well-respected in my area. He teaches for his love of his music and not the money. He won't continue teaching you if you don't practice: he says he would rather give your slot to someone who is genuinely interested in learning.
This doesn't mean you have to be a prodigy, just as long as your lesson indicates you have put in some practice.

One place I have noticed for ads for teachers is noticeboards outside music shops. Some of these are not 'professional' teachers but players needing to earn a few bucks. Perhaps some of these can actually be better teachers for some students who don't want to get bogged down in theory and want to actually play songs on their guitars.
