Hi All,
been teaching my son to play for a couple of years. He has a habit of pulling down on the strings when playing barr chords. Not much but just enough to occasionally put the tone out a touch.Despite pointing this out to him on more than one occasion! he cant seem to break the habit. If anyone knows of any exercises he could try or perhaps some alternative fingering hand positions could you please let me know.

Thanks

bobble

check the thumb position. if the thumb is behind the neck and pointing at the headstock then it would be hard for him to mis mangae barre chords.

actually, it is a fundamental technique.
proper thumb position is important.
with the thumb bend the neck and pointing towards the tuners/headstock horizontal with the neck
you use alot less hand pressure
