high pitched sound

u no how when ur playing and like u can make the guitar sound very high pitched but it looks like ur playing low. for example if i played the 8th fret on the g string u can make it sound normal and then u make it sound very high pitched i was just wondering how u do that... an example of a song that has it is avenged sevenfold beast and the harlot 2 minutes and 14 seconds into the song...................thanks

I think maybe you're talking about bending the string. You push the string up toward the center of the fingerboard and raise the pitch of the note. Take a look at the photos and videos showing you how to do this at Cyberfret's string bending page.

Or you could be talking about "pinch harmonics" which is a technique for getting a high pitched squeal from the guitar.
