Yeah. I think getting the gear seperate is almost completly out of the question, unless maybe Ebay has some of it? Very unlikely, but I don't know.

Even most of the electric starter packs end up being around 300 with tax (in new york anyways).

I didn't buy a starter pack for my first electric, I got everything separately- but for my amp I did get the Behringer V-Tone practice amp. That I believe is the same amp that's in the Behringer Guitar Pack. But for $50 more than the amp itself they trow in a guitar and a few accessories- so I'm not sure how good the guitar itself could be.

But, I do like the amp- it suits my purposes fine, which is just to practice in my living room. It has a few basic effects settings, a fair number of controls. It'll work just fine until I graduate to playing with others, when I would then get something beefier.
