Just a comment. You can consider 1 baud = 1 bit per second only if you are working in binary systems. Bauds is "symbols or pulses per second". Sometimes the signal is coded in more than 2 levels, then baud is not equivalent to bit per seconds. Sorry, I studied it in Spanish so perhaps I am not using the correct English terms.
